The Full BellieZ Buster lives up to its name at StringZ & WingZ in Streetsboro

The tower of burgers is certainly imposing. It needed a metal rod to stand up on its own.

As some of my readers I am closest to might know, I was an active member on a trivia team known as The Fellowship. While I have teammates who are bona fide geniuses, my specialties were U.S. geography, sports and politics.

The Thurman Cafe: Taking on the Thurmanator in Columbus

The Thurmanator, a 22 oz. mammoth of a burger, is quite large (obviously). Other things that are big in Columbus include (but aren't limited to) Gov. John Kasich's ego and the amount of support Jim Tressel still has from Buckeye Nation.

Welcome to Columbus where the official religion is Ohio State athletics and the mayor is Jim Tressel. Yes, I realize that he resigned after lying about NCAA violations, but he is nevertheless still worshiped by Buckeye Nation. Year in and year out, the Ohio State football roster might change, but one thing stays constant: The…

Men vs. Food: Breakfast at DeLuca’s in Pittsburgh

100_0545

Only 100 miles from Akron, I ventured off to Pittsburgh to go to DeLuca’s before visiting a friend in the Washington, D.C. area. I was advised by Yelp reviewers to show up early if I wanted to eat there on a Saturday, so I followed their advice and arrived by 8 a.m. Surely enough, there…

Is Man vs. Food Actually Coming to Akron?

If you live in the area, you might have heard some rumors that Man v. Food was coming to Akron for a challenge, thanks in part to a video audition I released.  I wanted to see if these rumors were substantiated. A friend who works at Canal Park told me that both Man v. Food…

Men vs. Food: Philly Special in Delray Beach, Florida

After eating 3 1/4 sandwiches in 21 minutes, I still ate more of the challenge than most people who have tried it, according to the waitress.

The original challenge I was going to attempt, the 48 oz. Steak Challenge at Shula’s Steak House in Miami Beach was “too expensive” for my family. It costs well over $50 down there. So the day before the challenge, I hit up eatfeats.com for a challenge that was nearby to where we were staying.

Supermoon Perro at La Moon in Miami

Google street view of La Moon.

Located on the rough boundary between Downtown Miami and Little Havana, La Moon’s specialty is serving American food with a Colombian twist. Noting the demographics in the vicinity, La Moon has taken to hiring bilingual employees, ensuring a friendly environment for locals as well as a welcoming environment for outsiders. While finding cheap parking can…

Triple Atomic Wings Challenge – Pittsburgh, PA Challenge

I would like to start this off by saying that I have attempted this challenge multiple times, and I have passed it multiple times.  I even have some Atomic Sauce in my fridge at home.  However, I can’t recall taking many photos of the challenge itself, so you’ll just have to take my word…

Hot Sauce Williams – Cleveland, OH

First off, I’d like to say that I’m not a fan of the state many areas of Cleveland are in.  I am kinda shocked that Adam Richman would visit someplace in such a run-down neighborhood for his show.  This looked like it should not be a place where a popular restaurant is anchored. Hot…

The Melt Challenge – Cleveland, OH Challenge

Let me be clear: I LOVE Melt Bar and Grilled.  I visited their restaurant in Lakewood – their original – the day Man v. Food aired their Cleveland episode.  It was packed, and I was plastered (for whatever reason, I remembered Adam’s speech at the end of the episode).  It also helped that the…

Could Akron Be Featured on Man v. Food Nation?

After one failed YouTube upload and one awesome trip to Primo’s Deli for lunch, I finally uploaded my casting call video from Man v. Food Nation (the name for the 4th season of Man v. Food, perhaps?).      I ad libbed the whole thing, so I was unable to really say everything I wanted…

Chaps Pit Beef – Baltimore, MD

Between appointments up at Towson – the grad school I was checking out – I decided to drive down to Dundalk to try out Chaps Pit Beef.  There’s only one slight problem:  Chaps is in the worst location ever (although I would later find out that a restaurant in Cleveland would be a worse location…

Primanti Bros. – Pittsburgh, PA

I was driving on my way from Akron to the DC area to visit my friend, who lives near a college I’m checking out for graduate school.  A city along the way is Pittsburgh, so I decided to make a stop at one of the two places I’ve yet to eat at:  Primanti Bros.…

Akron Blimp Burger – Akron, OH Challenge (Non-MVF Division)

So I went to Pints today, since they are a bar right on the main bar strip next to the University of Akron (Marc had work).  This actually goes back to a drinking binge I had here Friday night, where I found that they had a challenge hidden in their menu.  Their challenge was…

Introduction

In case you haven’t figured it out yet, this is a blog dedicated to the show Man v. Food – well, somewhat. We are actually two people from the Akron, OH area on a quest to visit every place Adam Richman from the aforementioned show visits. It would be weak and pointless if we…
